Retail Hell is a (mostly) fiction comic about the horrors of working in retail. Unsurprisingly, some of the events are based off of my experiences in working as a cashier for Wal-Mart.
The comic is primarily set in the southern prairie region of Canada - the city, which is currently unnamed, is pretty much a mashup of the two cities I've lived in - Regina, SK and Winnipeg, MB but bigger in population. The store, part of a large chain of Supermarts, is located on the fringes of the crime ridden area of downtown, thus the clientele varies from CEOs and(/or) drug addicts.
As ridiculous as this may sound, this comic is actually a spin-off of Underside, a comic I have yet to, uh, start. I have, however, set a launch date for it - Hallowe'en of 2010 - and a preview, so to speak, of the comic can be found on my dA account.
Female. Chem/CS student who should have graduated in the winter 2010 semester (estimated graduation semester is currently winter 2012) but, apparently, rather likes the post secondary education system. Consistently starts comics only to have them die off in ten or so pages. Fingers crossed for Retail Hell!
